The method
When our customers give us the skins, we start a preparation process for the next phases. The “riviera” phase is fundamental so that the whole production process can take place in the best possible way.
Once the raw material has been selected and prepared, we immerse it in our tanks. The real tanning process begins: skins are exposed to (gradually increasing) concentrations of tannins that gradually increase: this ensures that the skins absorb the tanning material slowly and uniformly.
In the tank, the “bottale a concia“, we use a blend of different tannins, especially containing chestnut extract. This extract make the leather compact and a with great light stability.
The leather we produce here at Cuoficio S.G. is particularly suitable for making shoe soles. Thanks to the methodology we use, the slow tanning in tank, we are able to return a product with high organoleptic and technical properties. The slow tanning process lasts about fifty days; this process allows a better absorption of the tannins, assuring the impermeability and the compactness of the skins. The soles for shoes ade with our products keep the foot always fresh and healthy. Our leather is natural breathable material.

Technical properties of our leather
We are able to provide thicknesses from 2.5 – 3.0 mm to 5.5 – 6.0 according to customer needs in the following finishes: full grain, smoothed, finished with customizable finishes depending on the type of article required.
We use a mixture of tannins composed mainly of chestnut extracts. The result is a very compact leather with a pleasant smell and color that is highly resistant to abrasion, water-proof and at the same time guarantees excellent breathability.
